The members of MBDC are all experienced performers who’ve undergone extensive training and are committed to their art.

Maui Belly Dance company is a dynamic and unique dance troupe. 

They fuse concepts from modern dance and movement from classical and folkloric dance of the middle east. They are a dedicated group of dancers who thrive on developing strong technical skills for polished performances. Their dance style continues to evolve while they are expanding their dance vocabulary on a regular basis.

Lynette Day  Lynette Day is the director of MBDC. She has been dancing for over 20 years and decided to participate in the Eight Elements, Datura™ style training to further her understanding with teaching technique, creating choreography, musicality, improvisational skills, costuming, personal dance practice, performance preparation, development of vocabulary, collaborating with others, and to learn more about the history of belly dance. She enjoys facilitating a growing community through this genre of dance.

Lynette Day

Lynette Day is the director of MBDC. Kahri Sahirah  Kahri Sahirah discovered Belly Dance in 2002 and it has been her passion ever since. She has studied many different forms of Belly Dance from Classical Egyptian to Tribal Fusion. Her teachers include Kami Liddle, Zoe Jakes, Mirayah Delamar, Ansuya, Sadie, Lynette Day and many others. She has been privileged to dance with Sacred Earth Bellydance, Raks Shakti and, most recently, Maui Belly Dance Company. She also regularly performs as a soloist.

Sarah Sheep  Sarah Sheep began her dance journey at the age of eight first with Ballet and then went on to train in Modern Dance, Hip-Hop, Burlesque, and African Dance in addition to various forms of Bellydance. While she loves all forms of dance, her number one love is American Tribal Fusion Bellydance. Before joining Maui Bellydance Company, Sarah also performed with AVA Ballet Company, Area 51 Dance Company, Stiff Kitty Burlesque and Reno World Dance Company, before relocating to Maui. Sarah also holds certifications as a RYT 200 hr Yoga Instructor and Level II Reiki healer. When she isn't pursuing dance, you might find her teaching painting classes, sewing costumes or enjoying beach time with her dog.

Since then she has trained in various styles of belly dance including ITS, Improvisational Tribal Style, and has attended workshops with Rachel Brice, Lacey Sanchez, and Silvia Salamanca, to name a few favorites. She performed with Jasmir Belly Dance Troupe 2014-2016. She moved to Maui in 2016 and has been dancing and training with Lynette Day in Datura™ style as well as others. As a physical therapist since 1998 as well as a Certified Gyrotonic and Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates Teacher since 1999, she loves to watch the body move efficiently and her fascination with movement blends her work and passion for dance together.
